What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a talking therapy held in a safe and confidential environment.
What is the difference between Psychotherapy and Counselling?
This is a fairly complex question. A concise response is that it is determined mainly on a few factors: the length of time a client is seen for, the depth of the sessions and the breadth/length of the therapists training. I am trained in both Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Who has therapy?
Clients are a reflection of our society with variable age, ethnicity, religion and belief systems. There is no particular person who does or does not have therapy. We all need help sometimes.
I am concerned about starting therapy. What assurances do you have for me?
I completely understand any anxieties you may have. It takes a lot of courage to admit that that you would benefit from support. As an integrative Psychotherapist, I am less directive this empowers you, as the client, to utilise the sessions and move at your own pace. You are not under any pressure and you are welcomed to bring your anxiety about the process into the room.
Will you judge me?
Not at all. I offer a non-judgmental setting where you are safe to talk.
Are my sessions confidential?
The sessions are confidential. Therapists are however required to have supervision to encourage good practice. Both the supervisor and the counsellor are both bound to confidentiality. Exceptions to this are; significant risk to self or other, child protection and offences under the Terrorism or Data Protection Act.
How do I start the process?
My details can be found on the contact page. Please leave me a voicemail or send me an email. Once contact has been made, we will agree on a date and time to hold the initial assessment session.
What is an assessment?
The assessment is a semi-structured session. It is an opportunity to explore your concerns and for me to understand what brings you therapy. It is a vital part of the therapy process. Towards the end of the session, we will both discuss whether therapy is the right option for you at this time. There is no obligation to continue.
